Chana Chaat

A treat for family or guests, this oil free dish is a great
salad with a meal.  A delicious combination of chickpeas,
potatoes, cilantro and tomatoes with toppings makes
it a yummy dish.

Chana Chaat

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup – Boiled Kabuli Chana (White Chickpeas)
  • ½ cup – Boiled potato
  • ¼ cup – Chopped tomato
  • ¼ cup – Chopped raw mango
  • 3 tbsp – Chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • Toppings
  • 4 tbsp –Beaten yogurt
  • 3 tbsp- Tamarind chutney
  • 1&1/2 tbsp –green chutney
  • 1tsp chaat masala powder

Directions:

  1. Soak chickpeas over night or for about 6 to 7 hours.

  2. Boil the chickpeas in pressure cooker by adding salt and water.
  3. Boil the potato, peel, chop and keep it aside.
  4. Chop tomato, raw mango and cilantro.
  5. In the bowl add boiled chickpeas, boiled potato, chopped tomato, chopped raw mangoes and chopped cilantro.
  6. Top these ingredients with yogurt, tamarind chutney, green chutney, besan papdi and chaat masala.
  7. Prepare tamarind chutney by adding
  8. 2tbsp – tamarind pulp
  9. 1/2tsp- cumin powder
  10. 1tbsp – brown sugar
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Prepare green chutney by adding
  13. Handful cilantro
  14. 2- green chillies
  15. 1tbsp – lemon juice
  16. Salt.
